Datacentrisme ou le flux divin des mémoires usée est une exposition immersive dans laquelle l'artiste traite des enjeux de l'ère du numérique à 
travers la broderie et l'installation.
Les œuvres composent un 
ensemble réticulaire en mutation qui remet en question la notion de 
limite et d’échange entre ce qui est physique et digital. Pour cette 
exposition, l'artiste cherche&#38;nbsp;à montrer les aspects
 sensoriels et matériels des données virtuelles et à créer des 
rapprochements entre la nature et la technologie.

Dans le cadre de cette collaboration avec la musicienne Frannie Holder, l’artiste multidisciplinaire Cyndie Belhumeur présente les développements récents de sa pratique. La racine du nuage met de l’avant son travail textile et vidéo ainsi qu’une installation immersive dans laquelle les deux créatrices explorent – par la manipulation des qualités esthétiques et sonores de fils et de câbles réseau désuets – un rapprochement entre la technologie et la nature.

L’exposition invite à réfléchir à ce lien étroit entre le virtuel (la technologie) et le naturel (le paysage). Cloud, Stream, Tweet, Swarm, Arborescence, Web, ces concepts évoquant autrefois la nature sont maintenant utilisés pour décrire la technologie. « Le paysage est appelé avec son cortège d’attributs pour naturaliser l’espace virtuel&#38;nbsp;: il rend ainsi possible l’acclimatation d’un espace qui autrement serait irreprésentable.&#38;nbsp;»[1]

L’installation placée au milieu de la salle évoque des centres de données désorganisées ou ces temples oubliés, vestiges de civilisations disparues engloutis par la végétation. Les fils et les câbles réseau sont assemblés et organisés de façon à créer une atmosphère pesante, inquiétante et hostile. Au sein de leur amalgame se trouve une aire centrale où le ou la spectateur·rice est invité·e à prendre place. L’œuvre sonore composée par Holder est intégrée intimement à l’installation de sorte qu’elle tente de brouiller la frontière entre le monde de la matière et celui du son, ce qui donne l’impression que celle-ci possède une voix et une identité propre. En impliquant les autres sens, l’installation établit un nouveau rapport aux objets et à l’espace. Les artistes proposent donc une réflexion sur les interactions que peuvent entretenir le tangible et l’intangible, le statique et le dynamique. De l’assemblage matière-son émerge également des expériences tout aussi complexes, voire opposées, harmonieuses et rassurantes pour certain·e·s ou encore chaotiques et inquiétantes pour d’autres.

En continuité avec le travail de Belhumeur, des tableaux brodés et une vidéo entourent l’installation. Ces œuvres peuvent être interprétées comme une représentation visuelle d’un flux d’informations en mouvement. Avec leurs titres référant aux lexiques communs de la nature et de la technologie, l’artiste tente de créer des œuvres qui illustrent cet entre-deux pour témoigner de la naturalisation de l’espace virtuel.

Déployées dans la salle de façon à représenter un paysage, les œuvres tentent de susciter cette conscience d’un univers en mutation continuelle en soulignant cette transformation dans notre langage et notre culture, bouleversant ainsi notre manière d’agir, d’apprendre et de penser.

La couleur du
bruit est une exposition dans laquelle je traite des enjeux de
l’ère du numérique à travers la broderie et l’installation. Pour ce faire, les
œuvres sont travaillées à partir d’une forme d’organisation
préétablie qui cherche à présenter un flux d’informations en mouvement. Cette
collection de travaux illustre par différentes méthodes et matériaux une multitude
d’éléments formant un réseau, menant spontanément à l’émergence d’une structure
complexe. L’effort chronophage nécessaire à l’élaboration des œuvres contraste
fortement avec l’instantanéité du traitement massif de l’information par les
machines. Par l’exploration et la manipulation des qualités esthétique de textile
et de câbles réseau, la matière investit les surfaces et l’espace en étant
marquée par le mouvement, la circulation, la fluidité, la gravité.

ParasitismeFestival Vue sur la Relève, Ausgang, Montréal2019

	Parasitisme s’intéresse à la relation symbiotique que nous développons avec la technologie. Elle traduit ce rapport en le transposant dans la sphère du sensible, du vivant et de l’organique. Désormais omniprésent dans notre quotidien, la frontière entre virtuel et réel se resserre et suscite des changements dans notre rapport au monde. Par l’exploration et la manipulation des qualités esthétique de câbles réseau désuets, l’installation Parasitisme témoigne de ce balancement en donnant à voir des objets domestiques modifiés puis défigurés. Belhumeur imagine leur expansion à la manière d’un parasite se nourrissant de son hôte. Elle souligne ainsi la croissance de la collecte d’informations dans notre intimité.La structure cubique dans laquelle le décor est campé évoque d’ailleurs la maison, un lieu chargé affectivement; terrain d’intimité, elle renvoie à l’identité, au Moi. L’artiste implique physiquement et psychologiquement le spectateur qui, contraint d’épier la scène par une fenêtre, est renvoyé à une position de voyeur. Le flux continuel et méditatif d’un ruisseau résonne dans l’espace comme une sorte de mantra. L’espace fermé et submergé évoque la saturation, l’aliénation et l’isolement, mais a des apparences paisibles lorsque vue de l’extérieur. Cette opposition répond au désir de l’artiste de matérialiser l’invisible en créant un espace fictif qui active la curiosité et le désir de voir, interrogeant par le fait même la position de chacun face à notre relation de dépendance à la technologie et aux conséquences sur le respect de notre vie privée.

L’espace entre nousMU, Plateau Mont-Royal, Montréal2020

L’espace entre nous, une œuvre réalisée en collaboration avec Evelyne de la Chenelière, vient souligner la primauté des liens qui nous relient les uns aux autres en ce contexte de pandémie. Située sur la façade nord de l’immeuble de l’Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal (OMHM) au 4420 Coloniale au sud de l’Avenue du Mont-Royal, l’œuvre se dresse ainsi comme le témoin et legs pérenne du fil de notre actualité de l’année 2020.
Les phrases d’Evelyne de la Chenelière, qui tels des fils brodés, tissent un vibrant tableau sur l’importance des liens et réseaux invisibles qui nous unissent. Une œuvre diptyque singulière, particulièrement imprégnée des explorations de
 tableaux brodées de Cyndie Belhumeur, et qui par son exécution à l’échelle d’un murale, livre une explosion chatoyante par des effets de superposition de fils aux couleurs éclatantes.

« La crise que nous traversons pose, à mes yeux, la très belle question du lien, du liant, du contact, dont nous avons toutes et tous le sentiment d’être privé.e.s. Les motifs qui se dégagent de ma réflexion sont de l’ordre de la couture, de ce qui nous unit, nou soude, nous ligature, nous rive les uns aux autres », illustre Evelyne de la Chenelière.

IntersectionsCentre d’artistes Caravansérail, Coop Paradis, Rimouski

Intersections, une œuvre réalisée en collaboration avec Ilana Pichon, s’inspire du territoire rimouskois et du quartier Saint-Robert. De grands aplats colorés créent des ensembles dynamiques qui s’agencent à la devanture rouge et à l’allure oblongue du bâtiment. À ces formes s’ajoutent des motifs trouvés sur le web. Des détails géographiques et architecturaux sont tirés de Google Maps et d’une carte de la ville de Rimouski datant de 1946. 
D’un côté, Pichon questionne le regard que l’on porte sur l’espace et les balises qui le structurent à travers une sensibilité architecturale et territoriale. De l’autre, Belhumeur développe des formes de représentations sensibles interprétant la réalité comme un flux d’informations en constante évolution, transformant ainsi notre environnement. Intersections montre le territoire rimouskois sous un angle inédit et s’ancre dans la communauté tout en associant les démarches singulières des deux artistes. Par leurs traductions respectives qui varient dans les échelles et le mouvement insufflés aux éléments graphiques, motifs et textures, elles transmettent un regard sur le territoire qui laisse place à de nouvelles rencontres et interprétations.

2019Cette installation réalisée in situ a été crée de façon à ce que chaque élément (formes, couleurs, textures et
motifs) se disputent l’attention du visiteur. Intégrant différents matériaux, textures, peinture murale,
suspensions et objets, une ambiance ultra colorée était déployée de façon à
saturer l’espace dans lequel trois danseurs aux costumes exubérants se
mouvaient.&#38;nbsp; L’album de Random Recipe, Distraction, traite de façon satirique
et euphorique du déficit d’attention généralisé provoqué par la surabondance de
stimuli et d’informations à laquelle nous sommes soumis quotidiennement. Pièce accrocheuse et festive, celle-ci se veut 
une célébration de la différence, une ode à l’originalité 
et à l’audace, destinée à tous ceux qui vivent hors des sentiers battus. Le vidéoclip « Out of the Sky » a été tourné dans un plan-séquence en 360° à la galerie 
C.O.A.

SundogFestival Wall to Wall, The Garrick, Winnipeg

Le processus de la murale a été crée en collaboration avec l’artiste winnipégoise Shaneela Boodoo qui a recueilli des
«données» de Winnipeg, comprenant des photos personnelles, des souvenirs, des
sentiments, des émotions et des expériences. Par la suite,&#38;nbsp;je me suis réapropriée ces données
et images collectées pour extraire de celles-ci des textures, motifs et dégradés. Cette démarche a donné lieu à de riches échanges et a permis de développer une peinture murale ancrée dans la ville de Winnipeg.
